THE Names UMT Pakistan’s Number 1 Private Sector University
The latest report of Times Higher Education – the leading global authority on university rankings – has placed the University of Management and Technology (UMT) at the number 1 position among all private sector universities in Pakistan.
The findings were part of THE’s World University Rankings 2023. The rankings have long been considered the definitive list of the world’s best universities and rank universities according to 13 carefully gauged performance indicators that include teaching, research, citations, international outlook, etc.
This year, the ranking was topped by the University of Oxford.
For 2023, THE ranked 29 Pakistani universities in total, while it placed 24 other universities on its “reporter” status as they failed to provide the necessary information for being eligible for ranking
THE named Quaid-e-Azam University as the top-ranked university in Pakistan, placing it in the 401-500 band. However, the title of the top private-sector university in Pakistan went to UMT, which was included in the 501-600 band, making it one of the top 600 universities in the world. UMT’s remarkable feat was made possible by an almost perfect score for research citations, validating UMT’s immense focus on research output.
UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad felicitated the UMT family on this remarkable achievement and said the results spoke volumes about the varsity’s focus on academic quality and research. He said the university management would now concentrate efforts on making UMT the best university in the region.
