Webinar on Initiatives for National Development

Pakistan is a land full of endless possibilities and infinite opportunities. The unique strategic location of Pakistan alone accord it with diverse opportunities for successive development. Pakistan also has great demographic opportunities for development as an increasing proportion of Pakistan’s youth bulge has diverse capabilities that would be supportive in achieving sustainable growth. Pakistan’s economy has already shown prodigious resilience despite all the challenges both from internal and external fronts. Accreditations and Academic Quality Improvement Cell in collaboration with Dr Hasan Murad School of Management organized a webinar to play its part in breaking the cycle of incessant economic instability. One of the central themes of the webinar was to highlight mutually supportive policies and practices that entails balancing of the social, economic, and environmental objectives for adopting a sustainable pathway.
The webinar was commenced by Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT. Dr. Aslam welcomed the guest speakers with great zeal for the enlightening session. The speakers for the session were Dr. Reza Baqir, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan and Dr. Murtaza Syed, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan. Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President UMT introduced UMT and mentioned how all sub-sectors within education can play a crucial role in shaping economic growth. He indicated that interactions between academia, government and industry are imperative for economic and social development in Pakistan. He further shared the stats of Pakistan’s share of exports to GDP and the vital need of long term structural intervention in Pakistan. Governor SBP discussed the role of the Central Bank in national development. He further stated that the main goal of SBP is to preserve monetary and financial stability. Afterwards, the Deputy Governor gave a detailed presentation on the recent initiatives taken by SBP for national development. The webinar was followed by a comprehensive Q/A session addressed by the participants. The faculty members, staff and students took part in the webinar. Dr. Naveed Yazdani, Dean HSM extended immense gratitude to Dr. Reza Baqir and Dr. Murtaza Syed for their intellectual contribution and time.
