The Master of Banking program is structured for grooming professionals to meet the constantly changing challenges currently being faced by the modern banking and financial sector at both national and international levels. The program aims to develop the human resource in a comprehensive effort to meet the demands of the banking field. It seeks to develop studious, highly efficient and goal-oriented professionals who are judicious in decision-making, and are aware of banking ethics to pursue values, achieve targets, and enhance productivity in sales and services.

The banking sector in Pakistan is opening up day by day. There is a great demand for professionals with a range of skills and knowledge and are well versed with the principles and practices of good banking. In Pakistan, foreign banks are restructuring themselves to cater for the needs of local consumers. Local banks are also streamlining processes while passing through the process of merging to strengthen their bond with the consumers and to ensure instant consumer-centered banking services. The School of Professional Advancement at UMT has come up with a comprehensive program to prepare professional bankers having the vision, insight and capacity to fill the vacuum of smart bankers at the national level and to meet compatible standards in line with the international banking services. The Master of Banking program is a direct response to requirements of the banking and financial sectors. It presents a unique opportunity to develop executives capable of problem analysis, implement changes that fit the environment, inspire team building and benefit from the modern trends. The courses included in this program are attuned to the requirements of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan (IBP).

Program Objectives

The Master of Banking program has been devised to meet the demands of the modern banking world. The program aims to

  • Develop a concoction of theoretical and practical concepts related to banking;
  • Disseminate the foresight of finance and monetary economics with an extensive knowledge of banking institutions, while taking into cognizance the complexity, uncertainty and risk in the market;
  • Accentuate the growth of analytical skills through real-life case studies and regular project work pertinent to the needs of the growing banking market.

The Master of Banking program is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the banking sector and financial institutions, and provides a greater chance for the graduates to seek employment in managerial roles.

Successful graduates of the program may opt for lucrative careers in the banking sector in Pakistan and abroad and can serve as professional bankers, financial experts, corporate executives, branch managers, operation managers, customer relationship officers, risk managers and credit analysts, etc.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria

HEC recognized degree in relevant discipline(s) with minimum 45% marks on aggregate.

All applications are evaluated on the basis of merit determined by the applicant's previous academic record and performance in the admission interview as per the following weightage:

  • O-Levels/Matriculation Marks 20%
  • A-Levels/Intermediate Marks 20%
  • Graduation Marks 20%
  • Admission Interview 40%
Note: Five bonus points are awarded to all master degree holders.
