Merit Award for Undergraduate (Bachelor Programs Only)

Rector's Merit Award

Rector's Merit Award is given to the participants earning Semester GPA of 4.0/4.0 who fulfill the following conditions:

  • There should be no “F", “SA", “W" grade or repeat course.
  • The participant is required to take minimum 12 credit hours excluding the pre and non-GPA courses, internship and final project courses.
  • The participant should not have been penalized as a result of disciplinary and/or unfair means.
  • Learning investment discount of six credit hours along with merit award and certificate will be granted.

Note:

  • The waiver will be applicable only if there are outstanding dues after deduction of the amount of waiver
  • In case of fee default at the time of announcement, the waiver will be cancelled.
  • The waiver of Fall semester will be adjusted in the quarterly fee of June and Spring semester in the quarterly fee of December respectively.
  • The results declared on time will be considered for the awards. Late submission of results will not be considered.

This award is not given to participants of all Master, MS/M.Phil and PhD degree programs.

Dean's Merit Award

Dean's Merit Award is given to the participants earning Semester GPA of 3.70/4.0 or above who fulfill the following conditions:

  • There should be no “F", “SA”, “W” grade or course repeat.
  • The participant is required to take minimum 12 credit hours excluding the pre and non-GPA courses, internship and final project courses.
  • The participant should not have been penalized as a result of disciplinary and/or unfair means.
  • Top 10% from all registered participants in a program, who meet the criteria, will be issued letter of appreciation (excluding top 10 participants) by the respective Dean/Director.
  • Top ten participants out of top 10% (as stated above) in the respective program will be granted fee discount of three credit hours along with merit award and certificate.

Merit Award for MS/M.Phil Programs Only

  1. It is notified for information of all concerned that the Deans’ Committee in its 80thmeeting held on September 10, 2014, has decided that merit awards for MS/M.Phil students should be based on research publications instead of GPA. The criterion is as follows, provided that there is not ‘F’ grade and overall GPA is 3.0 and above:
    • If a student publishes a research paper in impact factor Journal then twenty percent fee waiver will be admissible and for second publication in impact factor Journal, another twenty percent fee waiver will be granted.
    • If a student publishes a research paper in HEC & UMT recognized Journals then fifteen percent fee waiver will be admissible.
    • If a student publishes a research paper in UMT recognized Journal then ten percent fee waiver will be admissible.
    • If a student brings funding for research and does funded research thesis then twenty percent fee waiver will be admissible.
  2. MS/M.Phil student, who publish(s) research  paper in above referred Research Journals, which dis duly verified by Chief Library Officer, and recommended by concerned Dean/Director/Chairperson, will apply to the Registrar’s Officer for grant of learning investment waiver.
  3. Merit Award Policy for MS/M.Phil students is implemented with immediate effect. Deans/Directors and CODs are requested to display this notification on their respective notice boards.
