Monday, January 02 2017

Todd Shea, Executive Director, Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS), a US Non-Profit also registered in Pakistan visited UMT. The Office of Internationalization under its Sustainable Development Initiative, facilitated an MoU between UMT and CDRS for carrying out joint Youth and Social Development projects. The MoU was signed by Naveda Kitchlew and Todd Shea on behalf of UMT and CDRS. This partnership will enable both the staff and students of UMT to actively participate in community development and also help in providing formal internships to UMT students with CDRS and all its partner organizations.

CDRS is registered since 2006 as a non-profit society for disaster relief and social welfare work in AJK and Pakistan under The Pakistan Societies Registration Act, 1860. The organization was created by Todd Shea after his deployment to Pakistan in October 2005 to assist with the earthquake relief efforts. Seeing great need would exist long after the emergency was over, Todd decided to stay in Pakistan. Todd and CDRS were awarded the Tamgha-i-Eisaar medal from Pakistan and the organization now has over 100 employees and has deployed hundreds of volunteers to serve some of the most deserving communities in Pakistan.
