UMT Supply Chain Professionals Conference Attracts Wide Industry Participation

UMT organized 2nd Supply Chain Professionals Conference on October 30, 2016. The theme of this special event was ‘CPEC: Challenges for Supply Chain Professionals.’ The initiative was taken by the Department of Operations and Supply Chain at UMT Dr Hasan Murad School of Management. The conference provided numerous opportunities for supply chain professionals to developing strong bond of industry-academia collaboration, enhance networking to expand their current business portfolios, and keep themselves updated about the latest activities that are happening in academic sector. The 2nd Supply Chain Professionals Conference was sponsored by TCS Holdings, TAQ Logistics and CCL Pharma. The platinum sponsor was TCS Holdings and remaining two were gold sponsors of the event.

Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, welcomed the industry representatives and stressed upon the importance of supply chain expertise in ensuring the running of businesses. The key note speech was delivered by Prof Dr Shaukat Brah, Former Rector KSBL,  who explained the supply chain strategy for CPEC project. Yonus Siddiqui, Director Strategy, TCS delivered a very informative speech on CPEC project. He highlighted major challenges related to this project and which were also related to the field of logistics and supply chain. Ali Tariq, CEO, TAQ Logistics, highlighted the role of freight forwarding industry in the CPEC project. Kashif Sajjad, Senior Manager HRM, represented CCL Pharma. 

Dr Haroon Rasheed, Head of Marketing Department, shared his views on CPEC. Wang Zihai, President of Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries, spoke on CPEC and shared the business opportunities for two countries. 

Supply Chain and Logistics Professionals from Shandong Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, TCS, TAQ Logistics, CCL Pharma, Pepsi, Nestle, Agility Pakistan, Expeditors, Rudolf Pakistan, Metro, PSO, Berger Paints, Borjan, US Apparal, Pronto Promo, Servis, Pakistan Army, Tetra Pak, Systems Ltd., Workman Furniture, Brighto Paints, Pakistan Railways, Coates, PAC, Adsells, Maple leaf, etc. participated in the conference. A total of more than 150 professionals from more than 50 different logistics and supply chain organizations participated actively in the event.
