UMT Students Showcase Innovative Projects at Pakistan Auto Show 2016

Abid H K Shirwani, Director General UMT, and Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Director UMT, visited the UMT stall at the Pakistan Auto Show 2016. UMT delegation included representatives from the admission office and students who were showcasing their innovative projects. Farhan Dawood Qazi, Assistant Prof from IE Department represented Industrial and Mechanical Engineering Departments. Waseem Iqbal, Assistant Prof, represented Electrical Engineering Department.

The UMT stall was thronged by visitors who were fascinated by the display of innovative projects that may have some direct application in the auto industry. The model of the solar plane was the center of attention of most visitors who were also treated to a running documentary of the flight of Shams One  - the name given to the solar airplane. The solar plane is a final year project of Muhammad Junaid Javaid and Abdul Mateen. Other projects on display included ‘Line Following Robot’ by Zain ul Abedin. This is a term project offered every year, which creates a competitive environment. Jamal Ahmad presented a ‘Demo Walking Robot’ with two arms/hands.

The Pakistan Auto Show 2016 organized by Pakistan Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (PAPAAM) on March 4-6, 2016 at the Expo Center, Lahore, drew a crowd of more than 60,000 visitors from parts manufacturers, component suppliers, auto lovers and affluent auto mobile buyers to get a glimpse of the latest models from the world’s leading automakers in the motorcycle, three wheeler, car, tractor, trucks and buses segments.
