UMT Press Hold Books Launching Ceremony

A ceremony to launch two latest books “Kogan Plan” by Naeem Baig and “The Dead River” by Abdul Qadir Junejo was held here at Avari. Both the literary pieces have been published by UMT Press, the Publishing House of the University of Management and Technology (UMT). The ceremony was attended by students, faculty members, mediapersons and renowned literary figures such as Amjad Islam Amjad, Asghar Nadeem Sayed, Mustansar Hussain Tarar, and Saleema Hashmi expressed their views about the books.

The ceremony was chaired by Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Prof. Dr Qasim Bughio whereas Director General UMT Abid HK Shirwani welcomed all the guests.Of the two books, “Kogan Plan” by Naeem Baig is a thrilling novel that revolves around the theme of War on Terror, the war which has brought death and destruction, woes and destabilization for Pakistan and a suffering that continues haunting us since we became frontline state against it.

The second book “The Dead River” by famous dramatist and writer Abdul Qadir Junejo deals with folk life and their culture. The writer takes its readers on a journey to rediscover the forgotten history of Indus civilization. It takes readers to the living experience of meeting a bonanza character of indigenous folk.

   

 

UMT, fundamentally an institution of science and technology highly appreciates poets, writers, authors, story-tellers, dramatists and other literary figures for their contributions to the fabric of egalitarian and pluralistic society. The chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Prof. Dr Muhammad Qasim Bughio lauded efforts of UMT Press for bringing out such precious literary pieces.

Mustansar Hussain Tarar said that both the books were of high quality content that translated human values by portraying scenes from real life.In his concluding remarks, Director General UMT Abid HK Shirwani affirmed that UMT’s platform was open for all patriot writers who understand feelings of society and want to play their pivotal role in nation building. He said literature was very necessary as a food for thought that provides a solution to emerging problems of our society.

 


Director UMT Press Mirza Muhammad Ilyas thanked all the guests and said that UMT Press was considering to bring out the works of many other renowned writers in future
