Successful Launch of TEDxUMT

Thursday, April 27 2017

The Information Systems Department and CENTIN at School of Business Economics joined hands and successfully held the first ever TEDx event at the UMT Campus on April 22, 2017.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less.) TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

TEDxUMT brought together a remarkable line-up of speakers and performers from different line of fields. Inspiration to the community, these individuals have done remarkable work in their respective field. These inspirational individuals shared their stories of struggle and hard work which gained them an edge in the community. TEDxUMT gained extremely positive feedback from all attendees.

It is worth mentioning that Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, and Bob Wheeler, Dean HSM, took special interest in launching TEDxUMT. Usman Khalid and the CENTIN team lent their endless support. The organizing team led by Dr Nauman Shah, Chairman, Information Systems Department, worked day and night to make this event successful. It is hoped that UMT will sets a tradition and make this event even better in the future.
