Rector UMT Dr Muhammad Aslam Meets SBE Team

Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, met with the HSM Faculty and the F Robert Wheeler III, Dean, on May 30-31, 2017.The chairpersons of respective departments introduced their faculty one by one and gave brief introduction of their departments. Dr Atif Hassan, Chairperson, Department of Management, gave comprehensive insight about the department with respect to program and course offerings, co-curricular students Club, details about guest speakers/workshops/conferences, research initiatives, output, and future plans. The Rector encouraged the department to focus on research output as it is a key towards success in modern era. Dr Haroon Rasheed, Chairperson, Marketing Department, gave comprehensive introduction about the department including programs being offered, co-curricular activities, students Club, details about guest speakers/workshops/conferences, research initiatives and output.
Tahseen Mohsan presented activities of Department of Finance which included faculty introduction, department’s program details, co-curricular students Club, details about workshops/conferences, research initiatives and future plans. The Rector appreciated the department’s research oriented initiatives. Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, Chairperson, Department of Economics, shared comprehensive insight about the departmental activities with respect to program and course offerings, co-curricular students Club, details about conferences, research output and future plans of the department.
Dr Tashfeen Mahmood Azhar, Chairperson, Department of Operations and Supply Chain, gave comprehensive introduction about the department focusing on program and course offerings, students Club, details workshops/conferences, research initiatives, output, and future plans. Dr Maqbool H Sial, Chairperson, Department of Quantitative Methods, presented departmental activities with the house primarily focusing on program and course offerings, co-curricular students Club, details about guest speakers/workshops/conferences, research initiatives, output, and future plans.
Dr Nauman Shah, Department of Information Systems, comprehensively introduced the departmental activities, program and course offerings, co-curricular students Club, details about conferences, research output and department future plans. The Rector appreciated the recent developments of department regarding research output and emphasized on the importance of academic alliances with local and international business companies. It was advised that department can take initiative to expand its portfolio by offering trainings/certifications on specific applications.
Umar Rashid, Chairperson, Department of Skills Development, presented academic activities including comprehensive introduction about the department The Rector laid emphasis on identifying and working with students who need improvement in academic writing. Rector advised that bright students should be encouraged to apply for Fulbright scholarship. Information should also be disseminated to them from relevant forum.
Worthy Rector UMT welcomed the Centers’ teams and the Dean of HSM. All the directors of centers introduced their teams briefly and presented centre activities with the house. Total twenty-one (21) members participated in the meeting. Rector appreciated the good work carried out by the Directors of the center and concluded the meeting with note of thanks.
