Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited UMT campus on the invitation of the Department of Political Science at UMT School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSS&H). Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, welcomed the distinguished guest to the University campus. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Director UMT, Muhammad Awais, Acting Chairperson, Department of Political Science, senior faculty members and students attended the session.
Ambassador Lepel delivered a lecture on Pakistan and Germany relationship. Many issues of mutual interest including academic and cultural exchange programs between the two countries were discussed during the ensuing meeting. The role of German NGOs active in academic fields was also discussed. The Ambassador also highlighted the part that Germany is playing in various development projects in Punjab, KPK, Balochistan and other areas of the country. She also elaborated the role of German firms in developing the energy sector in Pakistan. In terms of academic collaboration, discussions were held regarding funding of conferences to be organized by the Department of Political Science. Ambassador Lepel shared that 135 students are getting PhD degrees on scholarships provided by the German Government.
At the end, Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad presented UMT souvenir to Ambassador Lepel.
