9th Convocation 2013

The annual Convocation of UMT is scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:00 am. It is a formal ceremony to celebrate the success of our Graduates who have completed all the requirements for graduation and entering into a new life. However, the graduating students are still responsible for their behavior in the Convocation ceremony.

We are pleased to inform you that Doctor Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT has kindly consented to preside over the convocation.

For that matter, it is expected from the graduating students that they behave in a disciplined manner throughout the ceremony.

Directions to the Venue

The Graduates procession shall be formed at the sports ground adjacent to new library building. To assist the Graduates, a help desk has been established at the place of Graduates procession. The Graduates are requested to approach the helpdesk as a first step in the formulation of their procession.

Code of Conduct

Graduating students are advised to conduct themselves in a very respectful, decent and civilized manner throughout the Convocation Ceremony. This includes the following:

Attendance on full dress rehearsal day:  For all gradates, it is mandatory to attend the full dress rehearsal being held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 03:30pm in UMT campus.

Graduate identification:  Please bring your original CNIC along on both the rehearsal and Convocation days.

Arrival on time: All Graduates must reach the event on the announced time.

Rehearsal day (Friday): 03:00 p.m.

Convocation day (Saturday): 08:30 a.m.

Please note that late comers shall not be allowed to join the Graduates procession.

Wear the academic regalia:

All Graduates must wear the prescribed gown and cap on both the rehearsal and convocation days. You are advised to get the gown beforehand, from the university, so as to avoid any last moment hassle.

The Convocation gown is available on the first floor of north block, UMT campus. The contact person for gown is Mr. Faisal (+92 (0) 3454937654). Deposit amount for gown is Rs.3000/-. Out of which, Rs.1000/- is the rent and Rs.2000/- is refundable security. Gowns will be issued on first come first serve basis.

Avoid disruptive behavior

All Graduates are advised to refrain from any kind of disruptive behavior during the Convocation ceremony e.g. yelling at people , walking out of the hall, talking while the proceedings, use of cell phones is strictly prohibited.

Show discipline

Students are advised to please remain attentive and respectful to all the speakers and management throughout the ceremony.

Guests with the graduate

At the most two guests are allowed with each graduate. All graduating students are advised to inform the guests that they should be seated at 09:00 a.m. Furthermore, the guests should not leave the hall till the ceremony ends as leaving may cause disturbance and noise. In case of emergency, kindly contact the usher; he/she will lead you to the exit.

Dress code

The attire that is worn by the Graduates and the behavior shown must reflect the dignity of the institution. Formal dressing by both male and female Graduates is required to participate in the Convocation ceremony.

All male Graduates should wear formal suits with lighter color shirts and in case of Shalwar Kameez, Graduates must wear waistcoat.

Photograph session and lunch

Students are advised to remain seated after the closing of the ceremony as they will be called program wise for group photo session with the Chief Guest and guests of honor. After, the photo session, the Graduates shall proceed again to the Convocation hall till the complete photo session is over. The lunch shall be served right after the completion of the photo session.
