Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal joined the Department of Education, UMT, as Professor of Education in Feb. 2008. Additionally, he has served as a Dean, School of Social Sciences and Humanities for a period of three years w.e.f. March, 2008. Presently, he is working as Chairman of Department of Education w.e.f. October 2010. Prior to joining UMT as Professor, he has served, University of the Punjab, Institute of Education and Research (IER) from January 1974 to June 2008 in various capacities. He started his career as a Lecturer and retired as a Professor of Education. During his service at Punjab University, he established, Department of Science Education and introduced two Master’s degrees i.e. M.S.Ed. and M.Ed. Science. He was appointed as Chairman, Department of Science Education and served this position till his retirement. During his service at the IER, he has the honor to serve as Director of IER, and then as Dean, Faculty of Education, of the University of the Punjab. Tayyab Farooq Bhatti is Head of the Knowledge Unit, Media and Communication. His teaching interests are media, mass communication, journalism, media sociology, public relations and advertising. He developed BS and MS programs of Media and Communication that were launched by UMT. He established UMT’s Research and Reference Section to provide research facilities to the teachers as well as students. Tayyab prepared 26 courses for an undergraduate program with their descriptions and reference books for the Mass Communication Department, University of the Gujrat. Tayyab Bhatti supervised the material development, designing and printing of all UMT publications.
He managed and organized UMT admission and media campaigns including budgeting, designing, and placement for seven consecutive years. He also supervised the design, content and deployment of the UMT Website. He directed UMT documentary films and contributed more than 30 articles / columns to leading national newspapers including the Daily Jang. He served as Head, Media Advertising & Promotion Department at UMT. He was Chief Editor, Akhbar-i-Jamia at University of the Punjab and Editor “Moments and Momentum” (UMT Newsletter).
Tayyab Farooq Bhatti also participated in the International Kashmir Conference, London, UK. He attended the Peace Mission Conference, Kabul, Afghanistan in 1992, visited Tehran on official invitation extended by the Iranian government and attended Kashmir Congress held in Paris, France. His global exposure and experience comprises of visits to the UK, France, Jordan, UAE, Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Afghanistan, where he studied media practice in these countries.

Dr Muhammad Tahir Mustafa is a renowned Religious Scholar, Academician, Author and Anchor of Religious Programs on various TV channels. Currently working as Assistant Prof in the Department of Islamic Thought and Civilization at UMT, Dr Tahir earned his PhD in Quran and Sunnah from the University of Karachi, Karachi, in 2007 and joined UMT in April 2008.
Prior to joining UMT, Dr Tahir worked for 20 years as an academician in Islamabad where he authored many books and contributed in curriculum development in the subject of Islamic Studies as member of National Review Committee, Ministry of Education, Islamabad.
However,the most recent accomplishment eclipses all else, Dr.Tahir Mustafa has become first person in the world and history after doing complete Translation of the Holy Quran in Urdu Language but with Dotless words. Dr.Tahir says this is not only the distinguished honour for him but also for UMT.

In an exclusive panel interview of the popluar program Hasb-e-Haal, broadcast on 11 July,2013 on Dunya TV, Dr Tahir shared with the audience that this effort required patient study and concentration but it was only through Allah's blessing that he was able to fulfill his dream of putting together a ghair manqoot translation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Muhammad Owais joined the University of Management and Technology in August 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, SSS&H now it is Department of Political Science. Mr. Owais also worked as the Chairperson of the Department for nine months (Aug 2015-April 2016). He is also the Program Manager/Advisor for MPhil Political Science. He is also supervising MPhil thesis of four students of first batch (may be completing their MPhil degrees in Spring 2016), one had already successfully defended his MPhil thesis under Mr. Owais while he was also Co-Supervisor of first three students of the Department of Political Science who had completed their degrees. He also has the honour of organizing a study visit for the undergraduate students of the Department to Islamabad (Parliament, Quaid-e-Azam University, Institute of Regional Studies, meeting with HEC Chairman, etc). Mr. Owais has currently submitted his PhD Dissertation for review process in the University of Karachi. Mr. Owais had previously worked at Institute of Business Administration, Karachi as Research Associate (January 2009-July 2013) where he coordinated with his PhD Supervisor Dr. Talat Wizarat in publishing book "Middle East in a Globalized World: Some Core Issues" and worked on project Vision 2030 (A joint study of PBJF and IBA) , Cooperative Lecturer at the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi (January 2008-December 2008) where he also supervised M.A. (final year) thesis of thirteen students, Research/Teaching Assistant in IBA, Karachi (September 2007-December 2007) and Lecturer at Bahria Foundation College (September 2004-August 2007). He was also awarded "Appreciation Certificate" for outstanding results in Cambridge and Board Exams at the Bahria College for two consecutive years i.e. 2005 and 2006.
Mr. Owais had presented his research in numerous national/international conferences in Pakistan and other countries like USA, South Korea, Macedonia, Spain virtually mostly on research papers related to Afghanistan and Security of Afghanistan and the Region. Dr. Fatima’s research focuses on faith based peacebuilding and human security in context of Pakistan. Her work has been presented in various national and international conferences including International Human Security Conference in Istanbul , Turkey; The Asian Education for Peace and Interfaith Congress in Hiroshima , Japan and International Conference on Education, Research and Innovation in Seville, Spain . Amna Rashid is a faculty member at Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSS&H). She received her LL.B. from University of London (UK) in 2011, and an LL.M from the Columbia University in the City of New York (USA) in 2014. She is a Fulbright Scholar 2014 and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar 2015 at Columbia School of Law.
Her research centers on understanding the state of Human Rights in Pakistan, specifically of women, children and persons with disabilities. She has designed an advocacy strategy to promote and protect the rights of street children (victims of commercial sexual exploitation) in Pakistan and is currently working on advocacy strategies for the protection of rights of persons with disabilities and rights of women. In addition, she is currently researching on UN and its Rule of Law, implications of EU’s interference in domestic policy making of sovereign nations, consequences of the use of foreign jurisprudence by Supreme Court of Pakistan.

My principal research lies in the field of Postcolonial English literatures in general and Nigerian theatre and drama in particular. I plan to continue exploring the thematic, theoretical and traditional paradigms of African performance praxis and to devise specific models by which to investigate the culturally rich and varied dimensions of African theatrical arts and post-colonial literatures in general. I also keep offering my acquired skills and teaching experience to quality academic institutes for different courses in English literature and language. Apart from researching African drama, I have lectured on English, American, post-colonial and continental literatures for ten years. As an active academic and administrative faculty member, I have remained engaged with many curricular and extracurricular activities from undergraduate to PhD levels during my professional career.

Dr Abeeda Qureshi joined the Department of Political Science at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) in December 2016 as an Assistant Professor.Before joining UMT, she worked as a PhD Tutor at the Brilliant Club and Advocacy Academy in London. During her PhD at the University of Nottingham, she was given the opportunity to teach several courses at undergraduate level. Abeeda has also served as Secretary/Coordinator for‘Society Outreach’ (NGO)London and hasorganised conferences on different social, political and human rights issues at the House of Lords, UK.Previously, Abeeda also worked as a senior teacher of Pakistan Studies and History at the Divisional Public School and Intermediate College, Lahore.
Abeeda took her PhD at the University of Nottingham in August 2016. She wrote her PhD thesis on: From Multiculturalism to Integration: The Role of Muslim Women in the Implementation ofEthno-Religious Minority Policies in the UK (2001-2014). Abeeda has been teaching for the last 15 years, covering Political Theory from Ancient to Modern, Power and the State, Comparative Politics, and Social and Global Justice at under-graduate level at the University of Nottingham, UK. She also taughtat GCSC level: British History, in the UK, and Pakistan Studies in Pakistan.
Her research interests lie in Public Policy, British Contemporary Politics, Minority Politics, Gender, Multiculturalism, American Foreign Policy and South Asia. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Pervez joined the University of Management and Technology in April 2016 as an Associate Professor of Political Science. He is also the Chair of the Political Science Department in the Faculty of Social Science at UMT. Previously he has worked as Assistant Professor at the Lahore School of Economics (2012-16) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Punjab University, Lahore (2011-12). Pervez did his PhD (International Relations) from Leiden University, Holland in the year 2010. He has won the prestigious Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan Overseas Scholarship for PhD studies abroad (2007-2010). His PhD dissertation is on 'The socially constructed security dilemma between India-Pakistan: an exploration of norms for a security community'. His monograph, 'Security community in South-Asia: India-Pakistan' has been published across the globe by Routledge (2012, New York). This book has also been awarded the 'National Outstanding Research Award for the best book in Social Science category for the year 2012' by the Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan in March 2015. In this book he has argued for a normative understanding of a India-Pakistan security community, which is precursor to peace in this most volatile nuclear region of the world. He has also written articles in foreign peer reviewed journals like Contemporary South Asia, Religion Politics & Ideology and International Affairs (Chatham House UK). He has presented his papers in numerous conferences both local and abroad.
Pervez is also an HEC approved PhD supervisor of International Relations. He was also the post-doctoral Fulbright fellow/ Visiting Scholar for the year 2014-15 at Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies, SIPA, Columbia University, New York where he worked with Prof Robert Jervis. His working paper at SIPA was, 'The strategic culture (re)-conceptualized: can cultural compulsions cause irrational strategic decisions?’. His research interests lie in issues of security, strategic culture, identity politics and theories of International Relations particularly social constructivism.

Prior to being appointed at UMT in October 2014 I was a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, University of the Punjab for two academic years (2010-12). I have completed my doctoral research training from the UK by studying for MSc Social Science Research Methods at Middlesex University, London (2012-13). My thesis (https://mdx.academia.edu/SohaibAli) offered a critical evaluation of government intervention strategies for preventing violent extremism – along with a high first-class Distinction Grade, it was awarded the Dissertation Prize (2013) by Middlesex University, London. I have presented my research before security sector practitioners and policy makers at the international course on 'Understanding Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism' organized by School of Governance and Society, UMT in January 2015; and have also given research methods training to UMT faculty through Center for Teaching and Learning, UMT.
My teaching spans the allied fields of International Relations, Political Science and Social Science Methodology; whereas my research investigates issues at the intersection of religion, radicalization, and inter/intra-state conflicts. Muhammad Omer Shabbir has joined UMT in 2012. He has served as Program Manager MBA in School of Business and Economics. Since 2014 he is serving as Research Assistant in the Department of Political Science. Mr Shabbir has done his Master in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies in 2011 from Punjab University Lahore. He is doing his Mphil Political Science from Government College University Lahore. He is teaching Pakistan Studies in the Department of Political Science. Moreover he is the Outreach officer of the Department as well.

Hadia Rahman joined School of Social Sciences and Humanities at UMT as a Lecturer in International Relations in January 2013. She earned her M Phil degree in International Relations from National Defence University, Islamabad in 2012. Her M Phil dissertation was on “China ASEAN economic relations and USA factor”. Having major interest in International Relations, her other area of interest was Media studies that is why she did her BS honors in Communication Sciences and earned a gold medal. She is a commendable orator and has received many prizes in this field at various regional and national levels. She started her professional career in 2008 by joining ATV as a news anchor. She also did news reporting and hosting of various current affairs programs and live marathons. She worked as a narrator with PTV Kashmir Cell as well. She joined Geo TV production Hum Sub Umeed say hain as a host in February 2011. She has been working in media for the last five years. In addition, she works in collaboration with Higher Education Commission as well. She is a member of peer review board of International journal of South Asian Studies. Hadia is a blogger at reportersdiary.com too which is headed by Dunya TV program Kyun. She is a freelance host and writer and her tweets can be followed @HadiaRah.

Ms Sidra Afzal joined School of Social Sciences and Humanities in a September, 2012 asÂ a Lecturer. She is Clinical Psychologist by training. She graduated from Lahore College for Women University Lahore and joined Government College University, Lahore for her Masters in Psychology and MS in Clinical Psychology.
Currently she is enrolled in BeaconHouse National University as a PhD Scholar.Â Earlier she served Â BeaconHouse National University Lahore as a Lecturer and taught B.Sc, M.Sc and MS students. She is seasoned Addiction Psychologist and served various Rehabs of Lahore over the period of two years. (2010- 2012)
Her research paper on “Stress in Special Education teachers; A Psychometric Study” was presented in the International Conference on Industrial And Organizational Psychology; Trends , Challenges and Applications, organized by National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, April ,2012.
She has teaching interests in Clinical Psychology, Addiction Psychology, Psychopathology, Assessment & Diagnosis and Interventions.She has also supervised Clinical Case studies for Lab in Psychopathology. AsmaaNouman joined the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at UMT as Lecturer in Special Education in February 2010. She is Academic Coordinator and Students’ Advisor. She completed her Masters in Special Education in 1999 with area of specialization in Mental Retardation. Then she joined Children’s Hospital and The Institute of Child Health as Special Needs Educationist in 2000.
She was the pioneer of Learning Centre in the Department of Developmental Pediatrics as well as she served as faculty of BSc Physiotherapy there. During this time she took individual and group behavior and educational management sessions with the parents and also their children suffering with Mental Retardation, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Fragile X Syndrome, Down syndrome and Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorders.
She also taught the subject of Special Education to the students of BSc Physiotherapy as visiting faculty till 2007 and taught there all major disability area. She joined the Department of Special Education, Punjab University, Lahore, as lecturer in 2001 till 2006. She has completed her course work for PhD in Special Education from PU with area of specialization in Hearing Impairment.

Before joining the elite and premier institution of University of Management and Technology I completed my Mphil from Quaid i Azam University in the leading discipline of Defense and Strategic Studies in the year 2014 and completed my studies in flying colours by securing 1st position. I decided to undertake my research in the most challenging issue pertaining to the security of Pakistan, "Operation Geronimo: Implications for US-Pakistan Relations" which is one of the authentic and detailed research recognised domestically and worldwide.
Thereafter, I joined Department of Political Science as the Lecturer of International Relations (March 2015) and inculcated the requisite knowledge of the subject in students with due diligence. Currently I am spearheading Jinnah Forum as the founder. This forum has provided unique opportunity to all ranks and files of UMT to enhance their professional outlook and polish breadth of outlook through intellectual interactions. Being part of faculty I keep a close watch on national and International developments and make my analysis through shaping environments. My research interests encompasses:
